Safety sensors are an important part of any garage door opener system. They help ensure that the door cannot accidentally crush a person or property. Two sensor are placed a few inches from the ground on either side of a garage door. One sensor sends an infrared beam to the other, and if an object or person breaks the beam, the closing garage door reverses direction.
If your remote fails to close the garage door when there is no obstruction (or if the garage door continues to close even when an obstruction is present!), that is an indication that your safety sensor has failed and needs to be replaced.
